And Here's the Pitch: Latina Teen Pregnancy Prevention

On March 12th Gandhi Brigade and LAYC youth presented their ideas for a Latina/o Teen Pregnancy Prevention Campaign at the Gandhi Brigade Media Center. The project was born out of a community-based research project conducted by Susan Cruz at UMD Baltimore's school of social work. She partnered with the Gandhi Brigade to create video PSAs and posters that would appeal to youth, parent, and service providers. The collaboration grew to include Latin American Youth Centers, the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy & Univision.

Attending the pitch was Montgomery County Councilmember, George Levanthal, Susan Cruz, Carlos Pintos of the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, Allison Bailey of LAYC, and Rudy Guernica of Univision. The final PSAs and posters will be distributed across the state of Maryland through public access television, web sites, and service centers.
