YME Event
The Youth Media Explosion event, pushed to the brink of postponement by a winter snowfall, was still held to a warm reception by everyone involved. A large number of people braved the cold snowfall to take part in the viewing all of the youth's hard work from the previous months. The Photography, Entrepreneurship and Video teams were all honored in receiving a certificate of completion as well as have their pieces shown off to all the attendees of the event. Richard Jaeggi opened and closed the event while Tiffany Spencer acted as Event MC. The hard-working youth and their respective media pros were all honored in each presentation throughout the night. Pieces, such as Kara Jones' "Citizens and their Business" video were received enthusiastically by all the attendees.
The event went by almost flawlessly, with the exception of when the media disc failed and a new one needed to be retrieved in a very short time. In a few short minutes, the show went back on without any problems as a new, working disc was retrieved and at the event's conclusion, there was an enthusiastic applause which closed off the wonderful event. Special thanks goes out to Councilmember George Leventhal for supporting the event, Mr. Reemberto Rodriguez, Director of the Silver Spring Regional Center, and Ms. Geraldina Rodriguez' kind attendance, to Mr. Bruce Lee for donating the Lee Atrium to Gandhi Brigade for the evening, and to the Middle Eastern Cuisine restaurant of Takoma Park for their generous donation of delicious food, see http://www.middleasterncuisine.com/
